Hodgdon H4831 is an extruded powder that is part of Hodgdon’s Extreme range, and it is probably reasonable to claim that handloaders have taken more big-game animals with H4831 than with any other powder.

As the first provider to launch this famous propellant in 1950, Bruce “B.E.” Hodgdon has established himself as a favorite for cartridges, including the 270 Winchester, 25-06 Remington, 280 Remington, and the 300 Winchester Magnum, among many others.

As an extreme extruded propellant, it possesses the desirable characteristics of being insensitive to extreme hot and cold temperatures, as well as excellent consistency from lot to lot.
